Not high risk but looking for a COVID booster? Here’s how California adults can sign up

California’s statewide COVID-19 vaccine scheduling system, MyTurn, is now allowing all adults to sign up for booster shots without having to declare occupation, health status or residence to meet federal high-risk criteria. You just have to be at least 18 years old.

This comes after California was the first of several states to override federal health officials’ authorization of the booster shot for only high-risk individuals.

State health officials announced that any adult can get the booster shot if it has been six months after their second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer shot or two months after Johnson & Johnson. The MyTurn website now reflects the policy change.

Major pharmacy chains, such as CVS and Rite Aid, still require booster seekers to meet CDC requirements.
