More than 200 Sacramento homes have been all but abandoned for more than a year, racking up code violations and dragging down surrounding communities. Oak Park and Del Paso Heights have been especially hard hit. This map shows vacant homes the city deemed unsafe or substandard more than a year ago. Check out the two case examples beneath the map, too, to see how many times city officials have tried to get the owners of some of these homes to fix them up. Then, check sacbee.com later this week to see a story and another interactive graphic showing the impact these homes have had on home prices.
