Volunteers clean up 23,000 pounds of trash along American River Parkway
Volunteers cleaned up 23,000 pounds of trash from the lower end of the American River Parkway over the weekend.
The 185 volunteers coordinated by the American River Parkway Foundation cleaned the area near Northgate Boulevard on Saturday near Mile 3. The three-hour effort removed all kinds of trash, including cans, bottles, shopping carts and hypodermic needles.
The foundation organizes volunteers each year to maintain the ribbon of riparian forest along the American River.
