The NBA team’s recognition of the change makers follows its “Team Up for Change” campaign last month, which linked players and team staff with young people at events focused on empowerment and justice. In 2020, the Kings announced a “Pledge to Our Black Communities”, which aims to support Black residents and elevate Black voices.

The Kings at the game also plan to recognize five organizations highlighted by The Bee’s change maker project for their commitment to their communities. The organizations are the Last Supper Society, the Mahogany Urban Poetry Series, the Sacramento Sister Circle, Voice of the Youth and Yisrael Family Urban Farm.
