Sacramento to give stipends to community groups in areas with low COVID vaccinations rates

A new funding opportunity within the city of Sacramento is available for community-based organizations aimed at combating coronavirus.

The city is inviting community groups to apply for the Sacramento Get Vaccinated campaign to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates among Sacramento residents, emphasizing on the ZIP codes with the lowest vaccination rates.

The stipends between $2,500 and $5,000 will be awarded. Community-based groups can learn more about this opportunity regarding stipends on the city’s community resources website.

“This program is meant to really amplify existing efforts to get folks vaccinated. We want to get folks vaccinated,” said Lynette Hall, the city of Sacramento’s community engagement manager.

Organizations have to complete an application and provide information about the communities they intend to serve, and how they plan to increase vaccination rates within those communities.

Organizations that qualify for stipends could receive additional marketing support and outreach materials to increase vaccination outreach efforts. If an organizations’ program is successful, then there will be an additional opportunity to receive extra stipends.

“We are providing applicants with the latitude to make the recommendations that you feel will most effectively reach the community and most importantly, get people vaccinated,” said Hall.

Funding for the campaign comes from the American Rescue Plan, the federal dollars the city received last year.

For more information, community organizations are encouraged to view the Get Vaccinated Sacramento outreach webinar on the city of Sacramento’s YouTube page.

It’s recommended that applicants submit an application prior to the deadline. The Get Vaccinated Sacramento applications for community-based organizations will remain open through 5 p.m. Feb. 25. Application forms are through a Google Form available at bit.ly/sac-covid-cbo-outreach.
