Cosplay welcome: Sacramento comic book creator hosting weekend convention
Brent Trayce Sands started Impound Comics with a vision to expand its universe and put Sacramento on the map.
The Impound Comics Universe will debut its first ever comic convention featuring special guests Walter Jones, Halley Kim, Dwayne Cameron and more.
In a convention called ‘Comicverse Convention’ Sunday, Sands is inviting people of all ages to come out in their favorite cosplay and enjoy different comic vendors.
It will be hosted at The Grand Ballroom on 1215 J Street. The event is from noon to 5 p.m.
There will be opportunities to purchase merchandise as featured vendors will offer comic books, toys, games, science fiction, anime, manga, costumes, artwork, sketches and apparel.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet the featured guest celebrities, who will be speaking to attendees during a panel.
At the Comicverse convention, Sands plans to promote a trailer for Impound, a movie he’s developing. He’s planning to release a trailer the following day, Feb. 28, on Kickstarter.
The convention was originally supposed to happen in December but was postponed.
Now Sands says “it’s finally time” as the one-day convention is here and set to precede his trailer’s release.
“People have always complained that Sacramentans don’t support each other,” said Sands. “I truly believe this is the time that narrative will be proven wrong when the trailer drops.”
A portion of the proceeds from the trailer release and Comicverse convention will go toward the movie production.
Impound Comics is a Sacramento-inspired comic series, founded in 2020.
