Sacramento R&B festival Sol Blume adds Jazmine Sullivan as headliner to female-led lineup
Jazmine Sullivan canceled her Feb. 23 show at Ace of Spades in Sacramento after she contracted COVID-19. Her message to fans on Twitter was that she would “make it up” as soon as she recovered.
The Phildelphia singer-songwriter kept her promise.
Sol Blume festival founder and Sacramento native Fornati Kumeh announced that Sullivan will be added to the festival’s Saturday lineup, April 30.
Sol Blume is returning after a three-year hiatus and is Sacramento’s largest R&B festival and one of the largest R&B festivals in the nation. Organizers said the festival’s goal is “bringing people together in the name of love, peace and happiness.”
In a press release, the festival announced that Sullivan will replace PartyNextDoor.
“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, PartyNextDoor is now unable to make it to Sol Blume this spring,” said Kumeh. “We hope to invite him back to Sacramento again soon.”
Earlier this month, Sullivan took home her first two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Album for her fourth album, Heaux Tales.
With the addition of Sullivan, the festival now boasts four female headliners as she joins Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker, and Jorja Smith.
“Sol Blume is excited to add Jazmine Sullivan as one of this year’s festival headliners. Blumers will be treated to a number of R&B hits from the Grammy Award-winning powerhouse songstress,” said Kumeh.
More than 30 acts are expected to take the stage during the festival on April 30 and May 1 including: Alina Baraz, Majid Jordan, SiR, Lucky Daye, Thundercat, Smino, Tinashe, Sinead Harnett, Lauren Jauregui and Sacramento native Victoria Monet.
An important note for festivalgoers: Sol Blume will be held at Discovery Park, but attendees cannot enter from Garden Highway. Festival entrance will only be accessible from Jibboom Street.
General admission tickets and VIP packages are still available at www.solblume.com.
