Sacramento’s Sol Blume festival was delayed by spring storms. It’s finally happening
Sol Blume organizers are optimistic that this weekend’s festival wont miss a beat even though the event was postponed due to severe weather conditions.
.
“The value in this year is our ability to just be able to have Sol Blume,” said Chaez Boswell, executive producer of Sol Blume and chief operating officer of ENT Legends. “Given the challenges of that, (we were) able to keep a majority of the artists, majority of the attendees and still have a successful festival.”
The lineup includes some of the top artists in R&B, soul and hip-hop artists, such as Brent Faiyaz, Ella Mai, Isaiah Rashad, Teyana Taylor, Pink Sweat$, and Jacquees.
Boswell, a Sacramento native, said that the festival was created out of love for the city that he’s from.
Boswell, along with partners at ENT Legends, wanted to bring something beautiful to Sacramento that would garner national attention and be celebrated by local residents.
Boswell said Fornati Kumeh, a Sacramento native, curated the festival lineup..
“We all think that he’s a genius when it comes to putting together these lineups,” Boswell said. “He’s very in tune with music in a sense of how to create a lineup that really works, gels together, and flows from the artist who opens up and kind of starts the day all the way to the headliners.”
Regional acts performing in the state’s capital
Over the years, they have been purposeful about ensuring Northern Californian artists are well-represented in the Sol Blume lineup and this year is no different.
Some of those artists include: Zyah Belle from Sacramento; LaRussell from Vallejo; Samaria and Kehlani, both from Oakland; P-Lo from Pinole; Thuy from Newark; Noodles from East Bay-Hayward; Marc E Bassy and Christian Kuria both from San Francisco.
Belle told The Sacramento Bee that she is excited going into the weekend.
Belle performs Sunday afternoon.
“Knowing that I am going to perform at Sol Blume feels like a full circle moment for me,” Belle said. “(People) should expect to have a good time…to be entertained and get their money’s worth.”
During a 2022 interview with The Sacramento Bee, Kumeh said Sacramento is “on the map and emerging.”
“Being from Sacramento, it’s important to us that we showcase the talent, you know. We definitely want to push the Sacramento culture,” Kumeh said.
