Join The Bee in March to celebrate the Change Makers who are transforming Sacramento
Change makers come in many forms. Some focus on education, while others pour their time into mentorship or shepherding legislation through the Capitol. No matter their passion, they lead with thoughtful determination.
The Sacramento Bee’s Equity Lab and the Nehemiah Emerging Leadership Program (NELP) have recognized change makers throughout the Sacramento region the last two years, and now it’s time to honor the latest cohort of capital region leaders with the Unity Change Makers Celebration.
The March 22 event will be held at the University Ballroom at Sacramento State, 6000 J St. Registration and networking start at 5 p.m., and the program will begin at 5:45 p.m.
We will honor those featured in the Top 20 Black Change Makers presented in October, the Top 20 AAPI Change Makers announced in January, and the Top 20 Latino Change Makers.
After soliciting nominations from the community, we have celebrated pioneers in the Latino, Black and Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. These leaders persist in the face of adversity and stand out as thoughtful community members who are transforming their communities.
The series began in February 2022, with the Top 25 Black Change Makers class. By the end of this February, the project will have highlighted 135 individuals who represent nonprofits, elected officials and everyday community members.
The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased here.
