A damaged water main has caused street flooding Wednesday afternoon on Fair Oaks Boulevard just south of Grant Avenue in Carmichael, Sacramento County officials report.
Significant traffic delays are expected until water is pumped off the No. 2 outside lane on the roadway, the county said in a news release. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid traveling on northbound Fair Oaks Boulevard at Grant Avenue. The county estimates that the No. 2 lane will be reopened by 6 p.m.
The water main was damaged as part of work on the Fair Oaks Boulevard Improvement Project from Landis to Shirley avenues.
