Today in Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Friday

Aeronautic enthusiasts can rub elbows with members of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and other California Capital Airshow performers in advance of this weekend’s event at Mather Airport. The free block party is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. outside the MARRS building in midtown Sacramento, 1050 20th St. In addition to the Blue Angels pilots and crews, dozens more air-show performers are expected to attend.

Tour the state’s archives

The California State Archives hosts a behind-the-scenes tour, featuring collections documenting the state’s history and government. The tour begins at noon on the fourth floor of the archives, 1020 O St., Sacramento. Visitors can view historical documents, see preservation and imaging labs and gain admission to the archives’ Exhibit Hall. Go to www.sos.ca.gov/archives/public-events/tours for more information.

‘Barn dance’ in West Sacramento

A modern “barn dance” featuring live music curated by Capital Public Radio’s Nick Brunner takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. at The Barn, 985 Riverfront St., West Sacramento.
