Early morning fog gave way to a sunny afternoon with downtown Sacramento reaching a high of 69 degrees Tuesday.
A high of 65 degrees was reported at both Sacramento Executive and Sacramento International airports.
Mild temperatures also prevailed in mountain areas. After an overnight low of 25 degrees, South Lake Tahoe reported a high of 63 degrees, a record for the date, said Karl Swanberg, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. The previous record was 55 degrees, recorded in 2012. The normal high this time of year in South Lake Tahoe is 44 degrees, and the normal low, 18 degrees, Swanberg said.
Low clouds and dense patchy fog are expected Tuesday night and early Wednesday in the Valley and foothill areas, followed by a sunny afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s are forecast for the Sacramento area Wednesday.
Dry conditions are expected to continue into next week, Swanberg said.
