New citizens to take oath

Monica Toro, district director for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Sacramento, administers the Oath of Allegiance to new citizens at 10:30 a.m. at Tsakopoulos Library Galleria at Sacramento Public Library, 828 I St. Fifty former refugees are scheduled to take the oath. Sysvanh Kabeko, the Refugee Programs bureau chief for the state Department of Social Services, is the keynote speaker. Go to www.uscis.gov for more information.

Urban sketcher’s work showcased

The work of Pete Scully is showcased during the The UC Davis Design Museum’s “Conversations with the City: Pete Scully, Urban Sketcher.” The reception/talk is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Design Museum in Cruess Hall at UC Davis. Scully draws the everyday world around him in ink line drawing and watercolor wash. The exhibition of 30 works is curated by James Housefield, associate professor of design, and Tim McNeil, professor of design and Design Museum director. ▪ “Bold Expressions 2016,” Northern California Arts Inc.’s 61st annual international open juried art exhibition, continues through Oct. 29 at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, 5330-B Gibbons Drive, Carmichael. Artist-instructor Stefan Baumann, PBS artist of “The Grand View,” is this year’s judge. The center is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. Go to www.sacfinearts.org for more information.
