Co-op grand opening this weekend

The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, 2820 R St., is celebrating its grand opening with a festival of events from Friday through Sunday. Visitors can mingle with farmers, meet celebrity chefs, take part in food, beer and wine tastings, and attend free cooking classes. On Friday, there will be a wine and artisan cheese tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. Marty Cohen and the Sidekicks will perform live music. Go to sacfood.coop for a full list of events.

Rocklin holds special meeting

The Rocklin City Council holds a special meeting at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers, 3970 Rocklin Road. Among the items on the study session agenda are the Whitney Argonaut Midas traffic survey, the Quarry Park development and the Parks and Trails master plan. ▪ “The Haunted Fort,” featuring lantern-lit tours, takes place Friday and Saturday at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park, 2701 L St., Sacramento. Tours, which leave every 15 minutes from 6:30 to 9 p.m. both days, feature tales of how some of California’s early pioneers perished. Advance tickets are recommended. ▪ A modern “barn dance” featuring live music curated by Capital Public Radio’s Nick Brunner takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. at The Barn, 985 Riverfront St., West Sacramento.
