Elk Grove council meets

Turkey donations accepted
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Activities League, along with Walmart, is collecting frozen turkeys for children and families who participate in the SAL program and for other identified families in the community. League members and the sheriff’s Community Relations Unit will be at Walmart, 8465 Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. They will also be at the Walmart at 8915 Gerber Road in Sacramento from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for turkey donations. Event visitors can buy a frozen turkey and donate it to the Sheriff’s Activities League program.
Farmers market at hospital
The VA Hospital at Mather Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 10535 Hospital Way, Mather. In its sixth year of operation, the midweek market offers a selection of local seasonal produce, specialty foods, bread, nuts and jams. Call 916-484-7000 for more information.
