Check the SMUD list to see if the utility has a check for you

SMUD encourages customers to cash checks made out to them soon before the money reverts to the utility.

In an effort to connect customers with unclaimed checks, the utility has posted the names of hundreds of people who have not yet cashed checks dated between Oct. 1, 2012, and Sept. 30, 2013.

The list is available at SMUD.org.

Checks not claimed by Dec. 23 become SMUD property. To make a claim on one of the checks, call 916-732-7440 or go through the mail with SMUD Unclaimed Monies, 6201 S St., Mail Stop K109, Sacramento, CA 95817-1818.
