Bishop to honor Alphonse Gallegos

Bishop Jaime Soto will preside at a Mass of thanksgiving for Venerable Alphonse Gallegos at 1:30 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1017 11th St., Sacramento. Before the Mass, there will be a brief wreath-laying ceremony at 1:15 at Bishop Gallegos’ statue on 11th Street, between K and L streets. Pope Francis has advanced the sainthood cause of Gallegos, who served as auxiliary bishop of Sacramento from 1981 until his death in an auto accident near Yuba City in 1991. He was particularly known for his ministry to farmworkers and the poor and marginalized.

French films at Crest

Five films – four comedies and one melodrama – will be screened as part of the 3rd Fall Sac Mini French Film Fest at the Crest Theatre, 1013 K St., Sacramento. Holiday parade in Roseville

The 55th annual Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade along Vernon Street takes place at 10:30 a.m. in Roseville. There will also be a pre-event beginning at 8 a.m. at Vernon Street Town Square, 311 Vernon St. The parade will feature performances by local groups and floats by local businesses. Korean collection honored

The Korean Consul and the Sacramento Valley Korean community celebrates a new Korean language collection at 10 a.m. at the Rancho Cordova Library, 9845 Folsom Blvd. The festivities continue at 11 a.m. at Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive, where there will be Korean dancers, the K-pop group from UC Davis, the Korean School of Sacramento Drum Team and Korean food. International dinner in Davis
