February came up a little dry in Sacramento

A slight chance of light rain is forecast for Sacramento on Monday, continuing a trend that produced only four days of precipitation in February.

A 20 percent chance of rain is forecast for Sacramento on Monday, according to the National Weather Service. The remainder of the week is expected to be dry with temperatures rising into the 70s.

February was a disappointment in terms of rain. Rainfall amounted to just 2.28 inches. A normal February in Sacramento would have 3.69 inches.

Rainfall fell during a four-day stretch from Feb. 6 to Feb. 9. The Sacramento rainfall total for the season stands at 11.57 inches, which is 78 percent of normal.

No rainfall was recorded over the weekend in Sacramento. Look for temperatures in the 70s later this week.

Monday: Isolated showers after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 64. South wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Light north northwest wind becoming northwest 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind.

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 42.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 71.
