The California Highway Patrol will honor a local school bus driver Thursday evening for saving an 11-year-old girl last year.
In May, Agustina Lopez was driving her bus route for the River Delta Unified School District when one of her students told her another student wasn’t breathing at her home, CHP said.
Lopez followed the student to her home and noticed the student lying on the porch, turning blue. Lopez performed CPR and the 11-year-old began breathing before medical personnel arrived.
“Her demonstration of exceptional skill, judgment, and bravery clearly contributed to saving her student’s life,” CHP said in a news release.
