Power outage affects more than 31,000 SMUD customers
Power has been restored in North Highlands after a slew of outages affected more than 31,000 people Tuesday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
The outages began at 2:53 p.m. near the Antelope Road area of North Highlands. By 4:11 p.m., power was restored to the majority of residents.
SMUD spokesman Chris Capra said a breaker failed at the Elkhorn Boulevard and Don Julio Boulevard substation. Crews are working to restore power by routing the line through another circuit, he said.
As of 4:26 p.m., six people are without power in the area, according to the SMUD outage map.
