Kudos to: Rotary Clubs of Arden-Arcade, East Sacramento and Point West
Accomplishment: Donated more than $20,000 to develop a technology room at Encina Preparatory School
Details: The funds were used to transform an aging classroom into a state-of-the-art room that includes interactive capabilities between the students’ laptops and a large screen in the room. Among the items purchased were more than two dozen computers, charging stations, large screen television, desks and computers.
Kudos to: Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation
Accomplishment: American River Parkway cleanup
Details: Foundation members are stewards of Mile 9 North on the parkway. The dedicated group has helped keep the parkway tidy since 2013, contributing 321 hours of work.
Kudos to: Rocklin police officers
Accomplishment: Shaved their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research
Details: Nine officers had their heads shaved at the Roseville Galleria Mall, raising more than $1,600 for the St. Baldrick’s Day charity.
