Caltrans closed the Midway Road Bridge over I-80 Wednesday morning in preparation for the demolition. A new bridge, built to the latest seismic safety standards, is scheduled for completion as early as spring 2018. During construction of the new bridge, the Meridian Road Bridge above I-80 will remain open and serve as a general detour, the news release said.
