Sacramento region is about to cool down

The Sacramento region is expected to see a significant cool down to the tune of 10 degrees, as a low pressure system camps off the California coast.

The low pressure system helped produce barrage of lightening strikes in the San Francisco Bay Area – more than 800 strikes and cloud flashes between noon and 5 p.m. – and a smattering of rain in around Sacramento. The chance of thunderstorms resumed Tuesday evening, says Tom Dang, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Today’s Sacramento high temperature is expected to be 90 degrees, 10 degrees cooler than Monday’s 100 degree mark. While not cool, 90 degrees would be just 2 degree over the normal high of 88 degrees, Dang said.

The cooling is expected to continue through the week.

“Ninety is the hottest we’ll see for the rest of the week,” Dang said.

On Wednesday, temperatures are forecast to be 85. Thursday’s high temperature is expected to be 80.
