‘Pacer-for-life spirit’ on full display at Turkey Bowl

For as long as Grant Union High School football booster Mervin Brookins can remember, Thanksgiving morning has meant a no-holds-barred game of tackle football between the neighborhood’s “O.G.s” – or “Old Guys” – and the “Youngsters.”

“It’s part of Del Paso Heights pride, that Pacer-for-life spirit,” said Brookins, who is well-known in the neighborhood for running youth sports leagues.

“It goes to the positive things in the community that people never see.” .
