Kudos to: C-Sus Voices, Sacramento State jazz group

Accomplishment: Received recognition from a jazz publication.

Details: Recognized with an outstanding performance award for a college small vocal group by DownBeat magazine. The award is the 13th time one of Sacramento State’s vocal jazz groups has been honored by DownBeat and the second time under the direction of director Gaw Vang.

Kudos to: Students, staff and families at Earl LeGette Elementary School

Accomplishment: The Fair Oaks school donated $5,654.36 in coins to a good cause.

Details: The school community raised the money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Pennies for Patients” campaign. This is the third consecutive year the school has raised more than $5,000 to fund research and patient services.

Kudos to: Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District

Accomplishment: Donated ambulances to American River College.

Details: Two decommissioned ambulances were donated to the college’s paramedic program. Students will learn CPR, start IVs and more from the back of the vehicles. In the past nine years, Metro Fire has donated about 25 emergency vehicles to small fire districts, volunteer fire departments and college programs.
