Sacramento’s Big Day of Giving has netted a record $7.3 million-plus in donations to area charities.

The final tally for the event, which ended at midnight Thursday, is $7,365,780, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation reported.

That bested last year’s total of $7.2 million in donations.

The biggest winner was Placer Land Trust, which took in nearly $220,000 in donations. Rounding out the top five were Kiwanis Family House, the Sacramento SPCA, the First Tee of Greater Sacramento and Fairytale Town.

About 39,500 donors contributed to 588 organizations during the 24-hour event.
