Applause for the week of May 18
Kudos to: Rocklin High School choir
Accomplishment: Performed at Carnegie Hall
Details: The choir was selected by Choirs of America to perform at the prestigious venue. The students performed in the Choral Convergence Concert on April 25, singing five pieces, and joined a mass choir of more than 800 students from across the nation.
Kudos to: University Presbyterian Church
Accomplishment: Accumulated more than 4,000 books for a Ugandan village’s library
Details: A 1,000-book drive went into overdrive with church members accumulating thousands more. The two champions for the cause, parishioners Amy Azzarito and Nancy Auberg, are helping the small village build a library.
Kudos to: Franklin High School and Sheldon High School students
Accomplishment: Received awards from local National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
Details: Animation students from the two schools each received an award of excellence in the Animation/Graphics/Special Effects category.
