Man killed in I-80 crash in Davis after veering off road, CHP says

A Sacramento man was killed on westbound Interstate 80 in Davis near the Richards Boulevard exit Tuesday when his truck veered off the highway and crashed into an oak tree, officials say.

Woodland California Highway Patrol received a call about the collision at 10:04 a.m., and when officers arrived, they found the driver had been killed, according to Officer Douglas Arlin.

The 33-year-old man was driving a 2007 GMC box truck when he veered off the road and onto the right-hand shoulder for an unknown reason before striking an oak tree, Arlin said.

Officers found skid marks on the road that may have indicated a sharp turn, Arlin said.

Although drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors, the CHP is still investigating the crash, Arlin said.

Officials have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family.
