Elk Grove discusses controversial bus commute changes

The Elk Grove City Council will discuss proposed changes in e-Tran commuter bus service in anticipation of a new Regional Transit light-rail stop opening in September at Cosumnes River College. City staff previously proposed ending routes at the new light-rail stop rather than maintaining service direct to downtown, a move that would save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. But bus commuters have overwhelmingly responded negatively to that idea, with 98 percent saying they would not consider using light rail. The council meets at 6 p.m. at Elk Grove City Hall.
