Three-car crash stalls I-80 traffic for miles from Madison Avenue to Citrus Heights

A collision involving at least three vehicles Thursday morning backed up traffic for miles on westbound Interstate 80.

The crash was reported as a collision between Madison Avenue and Greenback Lane in the fast lane of I-80 about 7 a.m., California Highway Patrol incident logs show.

The incident blocked the two left-hand lanes for nearly a half hour as crews responded to clear the vehicles and debris.

Caltrans live traffic cameras show both the No. 1 and 2 lanes reopened to traffic just before 7:30 a.m., but congestion from the lane closure continues as far east as the Auburn Boulevard exit on the Citrus Heights-Roseville border.
