Big rig driver killed after crashing into tree along I-5, causing fire, CHP says
A truck driver died after his big rig crashed into a tree Thursday morning and caught fire off of Interstate 5 in south Sacramento County, California Highway Patrol said.
The truck drove off the right shoulder of southbound I-5 near Twin Cities Road about 10:40 a.m., CHP’s traffic activity log shows.
CHP South Sacramento said in a tweet at 12:40 p.m. that the incident was a solo fatal collision.
Fire crews and CHP responded to the scene, which slowed traffic and closed the right lane of I-5.
The identity of the victim will be released by the coroner’s office pending notification of family.
