Four-vehicle crash closes 3 lanes of Capital City Freeway near N Street, CHP says

A four-vehicle collision Wednesday involving a big rig injured one person and blocked three lanes of northbound Capital City Freeway near N Street.

Fire crews were on scene extricating a party trapped in a vehicle as of 1:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol said. One person was transported to a hospital and all lanes were open as of 2:15 p.m., according to CHP’s activity log.

The injured person had two dogs in their car, and responding fire personnel picked up the dogs to reunite them with their owner after treatment, according to a tweet from the Sacramento Fire Department.

“The patients dogs caught a ride on the fire engine to be reunited with their owner after treatment,” the tweet said. “Those 2 pups would make good station mascots wouldn’t u agree?”
