67-year-old man killed in solo crash near Highway 99 offramp, CHP says

A 67-year-old man was killed in a solo-vehicle crash near a Highway 99 offramp Sunday night, California Highway Patrol said.

The victim, an Olivehurst resident, was the vehicle’s driver and sole occupant, CHP said.

CHP officers and Sacramento Metro Fire District personnel responded to reports of a crash near the northbound Highway 99 offramp to Elkhorn Boulevard just before 8 p.m., CHP’s North Sacramento office said in a news release.

CHP determined the driver veered from westbound Elkhorn Boulevard into a “grassy culvert” off the right side of the road, according to the release. Though the vehicle sustained only minor damage, the driver was unresponsive at the scene and was later pronounced dead by Metro Fire personnel.

The collision’s cause is under investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is urged to contact CHP North Sacramento.

The identity of the victim will be released by the coroner’s office pending notification of family.
