Patrick Tomas was so excited to pick up his 5-month-old puppy, Bronx, from a two-week doggie boot camp course that he left his home in San Bruno a day early and booked a hotel room in Sacramento to make sure he would be able to pick up Bronx as soon as he possibly could.
But when Tomas, his wife and their two kids got in the car to make the two hour drive from San Bruno to Sacramento, Tomas received an urgent message from the trainer: Bronx was gone, presumed to be stolen.
Tomas is offering a $5,000 reward for the return of Bronx, an American Staffordshire terrier with light brown fur and pointy ears. The trainer and Bronx were in Howe Community Park in Arden Arcade around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when the puppy went missing.
“My kids are devastated,” Tomas, who has been driving back and forth between San Bruno and Sacramento as he searches for Bronx, said. “They’re like ‘Daddy, did you find Bronx yet?’ I go nope, not yet but we’ll get him.”
Tomas said Bronx responds well to his name and is very friendly. He has printed out nearly 600 flyers and is canvassing Sacramento with a team of family, friends and community members to find Bronx.
“No questions asked. I would literally say thank you, god bless you, follow me to the bank,” Tomas said, describing what he would say to the person who returns Bronx. “I’m a man of my word.”
Tomas said community members who want to join the search for Bronx are welcome, and anyone with information regarding Bronx’s whereabouts should call 650-219-0598.
