Kudos to: Walmart Foundation
Accomplishment: Awarded $80,000 to Elk Grove Food Bank Services
Details: The money will be used to buy a refrigerated truck to pick up fresh and frozen foods donated by local grocers and farms. The food bank serves about 4,500 people a month.
Kudos to: Mercer Clinic
Accomplishment: Recipient of several honors, including the Presidential Award for Community Service
Details: The UC Davis clinic provides free veterinary services to pets of the homeless. Services include spay or neuter surgery, exams, surgical repair and preventative health treatments. Mercer Clinic also gives veterinary students opportunities to hone their skills.
Kudos to: Eppie’s Great Race
Accomplishment: Donated $20,000 to Sacramento County’s Therapeutic Recreation Services
Details: The proceeds from the annual triathlon on the American River Parkway will provide recreation activities for disabled adults. The next Eppie’s Great Race is scheduled for July 18.
