Two men drowned Sunday afternoon near the Isleton docks, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
According to spokeswoman Lisa Bowman, a man went into the water off a dock near I Street about 1:30 p.m. He was swept downstream in the fast, cold current.
Another man then jumped from another dock in an attempt to help him. Both disappeared under the water and did not resurface, Bowman said.
The sheriff’s marine detail used sonar to locate both bodies. The Sheriff’s Department Drowning Accident Rescue Team unit, along with the Solano Marine Unit, the Rio Vista Coast Guard and a Coast Guard helicopter helped recover the victims about 13 feet under water.
