Woman struck, killed by Union Pacific train in Sacramento

A woman has died after being struck by a train Sunday in Sacramento, authorities said.

A Union Pacific train heading northbound “struck and fatally injured a female pedestrian” near East Railroad and Napa avenues in the Colonial Manor neighborhood shortly after 7:30 p.m., Union Pacific spokeswoman Kristen South said in an emailed statement.

“The train crew was not hurt,” the statement continued. “Union Pacific is working with the Sacramento Police Dept. to investigate what led up to the incident.”

The woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were immediately available.
