2 hurt after propane tank explodes at Natomas homeless encampment, Sacramento FD says

A propane tank exploded Thursday morning at a South Natomas homeless encampment, injuring at least two people, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

The explosion occurred just before 6:30 a.m. at a camp near San Juan Road and Zenobia Way. Two people have are being treated for burn injuries, the Fire Department said in a tweet just after 7 a.m.

The explosion, which happened not far from the Ninos Parkway trail and nearby Rio Tierra Park, caused a small grass fire nearby that was quickly extinguished, fire officials said.

The severity of the burn injuries was not known.
