Couple in their 90s killed in 2-alarm Vacaville house fire, authorities say
An elderly man and woman were killed in a two-alarm house fire late Sunday night in Vacaville, authorities said.
The Vacaville police and fire departments responded around 11:50 p.m. to reports of a fire on Scottsdale Drive with victims possibly trapped inside the home, Vacaville Fire Department Chief Jeramy Langwell said. The house fire required a two-alarm response, he said.
One crew initiated a rescue operation while the other crew worked to extinguish the fire, according to Langwell. Personnel located a deceased man inside the home, and were able to rescue a woman, who was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and died of her injuries Monday morning, the battalion chief said.
The Solano County Coroner’s Office in an email confirmed the victims’ identities as 92-year-old Raymond McDaniel and 91-year-old Maggie McDaniel.
