6,000 lose power in Folsom area, possibly due to wind, SMUD says

More than 6,000 SMUD customers are without power in the Folsom area Monday afternoon, the utility says.

Crews are investigating the outage, which was reported in a tweet by SMUD shortly after 1:30 p.m.

SMUD says the cause has not been determined but may be related to high wind gusts. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for much of the Sacramento area through 6 p.m. Monday due to sustained winds around 20 mph and gusts up to 40 mph in the forecast.

Power was restored in the area by Monday evening.
