Late-night fatal crash closed I-5 near Freeport area of Sacramento, CHP says

At least one person was killed in a crash late Monday night on Interstate 5 near Sacramento’s Freeport neighborhood.

The California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office in social media posts just after 11 p.m. reported a fatal collision on southbound I-5 near Cosumnes River Boulevard. Traffic was diverted off at Pocket Road toward Highway 99 due to the crash, the CHP said.

No other details regarding the collision were immediately available.

I-5 has since fully reopened.
