What can you do in Bay Area over the holiday weekend? Not much
Some parts of California are reopening faster than others. In Sacramento, many restaurants have restarted dine-in service. In Yuba City and Roseville, the shopping malls are open. In Sutter County, gyms are opening their doors again for the first time in months.
But in the Bay Area, home to nearly 8 million Californians, much remains closed.
Residents of most Bay Area counties are still under county and state orders to shelter-at-home and many businesses remain shuttered as a result. Restaurants remain take-out only. Bars are closed. And retail stores are still limited to curbside pick-up.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, only three Bay Area counties currently meet the state’s testing standard for reopening. Napa, Solano and Marin counties say they are administering 150 tests per 100,000 every day, the benchmark set by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
In Napa County, some restaurants are preparing to open for dine-in service for the Memorial Day weekend. Solano County was also given the green light to begin opening retail stores and restaurants for dine-in service, but it is still unclear when that transition will begin.
In San Francisco, tourist attractions and museums are still closed. Travel is restricted, and you likely won’t be able to find a restaurant open for dine-in service over the holiday weekend. This state of affairs rings true for much of the other attractions in the area including beaches and state parks.
