When Davis firefighters arrived Tuesday on the scene of a vehicle collision on Interstate 80, they found a car already billowing with smoke.

What caused the crash on eastbound Interstate 80 just after the Richards Boulevard offramp is unknown.

But thanks to the quick work of a passerby, the victim had already been pulled from the vehicle, firefighters said in a social media post.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and the victim was transported to the hospital, officials said on Facebook.

The driver’s condition is not known.
