1 killed, 1 hurt in crash north of Natomas near Highway 99, Sacramento fire officials say

One person was killed and another injured in a crash Wednesday morning north of Natomas, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

The fatal collision happened around 7:30 a.m. on West Elkhorn Boulevard near Highway 99, just north of the Natomas area and about two miles east of Sacramento International Airport, the Sacramento Fire Department said in a tweet.

Both directions of West Elkhorn are closed to traffic as authorities investigate. The injured person was being treated at the scene, fire officials said.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s incident log, the incident involved two vehicles.

No other details were available, and there was no estimated time of reopening for West Elkhorn Boulevard. Drivers are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes.
