One home damaged after 5-acre grass fire burns along trail in South Natomas

A grass fire along a trail in South Natomas spread quickly and damaged a home before firefighters got a handle on it, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. near the 2800 block of Weiss Avenue, on the Niños Parkway bike path. The fire, which grew to five acres, was responded to with two alarm, fire officials said.

One home was damaged, with the fire moving to the exterior and attic space of the structure. The fire did not reach any of the living space, and one resident was escorted out, fire officials said in a social media post.

No injuries were reported, and investigators are working to determine the fire’s cause.
