Sacramento firefighters knock down one fire, work on another blaze in Discovery Park
The Sacramento Fire Department put out a grass fire near Northgate Boulevard and Highway 160 Sunday afternoon while another fire in thick vegetation burned nearby.
The grass fire started around 2 p.m. and was put out around 2:45 p.m., according to the department. The other fire, a two-alarm vegetation fire near Highway 160 in Discovery Park, was still going around 3 p.m.
Due to heavy vegetation, the 1-acre grass fire was hard to access. Firefighters contained the fire and worked to put out hot spots. The flames were close to the spot of a Saturday grass fire that was contained and cleaned up.
No structures were threatened.
