Investigators look for cause of Tuesday night fire that engulfed two duplexes in Carmichael

More than 50 firefighters responded to a raging two-alarm fire on Douvan Court in Carmichael around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. The blaze originally engulfed two units, but grew to four units across two duplexes.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department tweeted that there was a gas leak between two of the units. The department reported no explosions due to the leak.

The personnel on scene included two medics, five chief officers and overhead personnel including a public information officer, rehabilitation workers and air support.

While no injuries have been reported, major damage to the two duplexes, a nearby car and other property can be seen in videos by posted by the department.
