Two people sent to the hospital after World War II-era airplane crashes in Stockton

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating a plane crash in Stockton that left two people injured on Saturday night, according to a Facebook post by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

The plane, which was a World War II era aircraft, attempted to land in an open field, but appeared to have hit an irrigation ditch.

Three people were on the plane, two of whom were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the post. The other person was able to walk away from the crash, which occurred near Roberts and Muller roads in Stockton.

The plane was left with extensive damage, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Office said they were in communication with the NTSB and FAA, which would lead the investigation.
