Buckhorn Grill to cook up something new as barbecue chain leaves midtown Sacramento location
Buckhorn Grill and its char-roasted tri-tips are exiting its location at 18th and L streets in midtown Sacramento.
The seven-store chain of barbecue joints shared the news on Sunday on their Facebook that it ended operations in midtown that evening.
“After 15 years of serving the Sacramento community, the midtown restaurant will be moving and become part of a modern Buckhorn concept, in collaboration with other local brands, that will open mid-year 2022,” the company wrote.
For barbecue aficionados, this isn’t a total a loss. Buckhorn Grill will be opening two new locations: One will be in the new Raley’s shopping center along Freeport Boulevard in South Land Park; the other will be in Rocklin Crossings on Sierra College Boulevard near Interstate 80.
Both locations are expected to open in December, the company said.
“While COVID-19 has presented many challenges for our business, we are grateful to be a position where we can expand,” said Derrick Fong, the CEO of Buckhorn Enterprises LLC. “With the new locations in Sacramento and Rocklin, Buckhorn’s will be able to better serve the Sacramento Area now and into the future. We look forward to welcoming guests to our new restaurants very soon.”
For now, Buckhorn fans can get their fix at other Sacramento locations in Folsom and the Sierra Oaks neighborhood’s University Village shopping center.
