Haunted houses in Sacramento area: These spooky spots will fill your night with fright
Halloween is just around the corner, but it doesn’t mean you have to wait to celebrate the season of goblins and ghouls.
The Sacramento area has a handful of scream worthy haunted houses that will trick and treat your thrill seeking heart. If you’re looking for a fright, here are some spooky spots you should visit:
Heartstoppers Haunted House
Heartstoppers is here for its 14th year with a full walk-through experience, following its unique drive-through haunted house last year. This season, they have four themed haunted houses, including “The Ward” where you can explore a twisted hospital research facility and “Underland,” a warped 3D trail inspired by “Alice in Wonderland.”
After or between visiting the attractions, you can give your heart a break from the horror and enjoy carnival games, watch circus performers or grab some food and drinks. Heartstoppers also has zombie laser tag and vendors selling creepy dolls, paintings, candles and more. Every Saturday, there will be an outdoor performance for their show “Retribution!”
Heartstoppers will be following government and CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All attendees must wear masks on site. For more on health and safety procedures, you can check the website.

Cemetarium Haunted House

Families with young ones can also purchase “Low Scare” tickets for Family Scare Nights. This includes the same attractions, except the thrills are geared towards younger children, according to John Cortijo, part owner and general manager at Cemetarium. He said the haunted houses will be less scary, monsters won’t jump out at you and if the children are scared, the ghouls will break character.
Sac Cirque will be performing on select nights, and there will also be treats and coffee from Mad Hatter Doughnuts.
As written on the ticketing page, there will be social distancing guidelines. You also aren’t required to wear a mask, but you can if you want to.
